Bordeaux on the move in pictures

It is the mid of mobility week.  I came back from a visit in Bordeaux and of course I cannot stop looking at the city and the Smart parts of it like  new modes of transport, humanity, etc.
Here is a selection of pictures and a small explanation related to the mobility aspects

Skate zen near the cathedral - hour limitations
It seems that skate boarding in the city center is now regulated.  Skating is now only allowed 18 hours per week, on Wednesday and Saturday from 11- 20H  in this zone at least in front of the cathedral
The name is Skate ZEN.  Zen for the visitors?  And interestingly for a French town, it is also written in English.

Bluecub at charging station (cité du vin)
Bluecub is an initiative of the Bolloré group, and has a fleet of 200 electric cars that can be used in Bordeaux and Arcachon area.  The cars, once parked at the station are charged.

Bluecub - rental of electric cars

Next is the CITIZ cooperative in Bordeaux providing over 100 station based shared cars.
CITIZ - car sharing

And parking?
It is interesting to see that certain streets in the city center have not been transformed to pedestrian only areas, but allow cars with a pass to drive in or make deliveries.  This allows for a livable street with less impact. The on-street parking facility allows for card/cash payments and even an app that is ironically called Easypark - high expectations !  The customer interface is still a nightmare and will create annoyed citizens like everywhere

What about the electric steps/bikes/scooters?
The city of Bordeaux has signed a charter with the e-scooter providers this to allow an ordered manner of distribution in the city.  This charter asks the providers to pay a certain service fee, a creation of dedicated parking areas, and a limit to the number of e-scooters per company
TIER scooters waiting in their parking area in front of the French start-up Cdiscount

There are several providers, some more exotic than others: Pony, Flash, Volt, CIRC, TIER, Indigo I saw

The logo - a bike and a communication symbol

- Indigo - the car parking company has also electric scooters next to the bikes

Poney -  a French start-up with a fleet of bikes and of electric steps

- TIER:  electric steps
CIRC

Barcelona based YEGO provides these nice electric scooter in the Bordeaux area

Let's talk about the Bordeaux metroplitan  V3  providing station based bikes and e-bikes in the Bordeaux area.  This is a contract managed by Keolis.  I used a 24 hours ticket so i could get around Bordeaux.  At my first stop I changed bike, and could not get the bike out of the holder.  The customer assistance could only tell me that my 24h ticket was blocked (the system indicated I was renting a bike, and I was not)  and therefore I had to call my friends to come and pick me up at the other side of Bordeaux - a failed experience from my side than.

The tram!

Of course one cannot talk about mobility without the newly build trams.  These are a real sucess.
In the city center there are not electric wires on top (despite the road sign:)) .  A new line is in construction and creates a lot of changes in the car circulation plan as I discovered.
And the tram!

Smart Building - in wood ) in area near Cité du Vin

Complete new building areas  near the Cité du vin - hyperion - build in wood and be quite tall (50 meters high)

Collecting the cigarettes and recycling them
I like the term eco-megot - it is a French start-up that wants to make people aware of the cigarette butt waste; the aim is to start recycling them at some point.
Glass crossing between two parts of secundary school
It seems that even in the city-center one can add contemporary architecture.  Here the glass crossing in a French lycée.

temporary usage of a abandoned building in city center
Ambassade was a temporary use of a building in the city center organised by the collective Yes we camp

Choosing a book in the citizen run book deposits (Bordeaux)
Free book stores in the parc, where citizens can take a book for free and put it back afterwards

To end Bordeaux, a city on the move -  this picture overview along the Gironde river,   a citizen with its own electric bike and a children stroller attached.
